Well, we're in! It was a four-day effort but we're all moved. I don't know why in the world we didn't ask more friends to help; we have a lotta crap! Our kids must be the luckiest kids in the world because I have never seen so many toys! Emma had four boxes of books and I couldn't count the boxes of toys- and she gave a lot away! David's SGT, Mike, helped us on Friday. I had taken off Thursday and Friday, and by the end of day 1 I had moved all of our clothes. Friday was our first night at the new house. It's so odd to get used to all of the new noises, new routines. I was worried how the kids would cope; especially Cody but they didn't miss a beat! David is giving himself credit on this one because we painted Cody's room the same and he heard somewhere that this was good for children during a move.
The house looks beautiful and I couldn't be more thankful to David and my Dad for working so hard de-wall papering, painting etc. I know we will be very happy here.
A week later we are knee-deep in boxes trying to un-pack and de-clutter. Unfortunately we ran out of time before we moved to have a garage sale and finish going through our things so we've been going through 2-3 boxes a night. I'm finishing this entry on 3/20 and had a garage sale yesterday. I made $95. I don't think I sold very much so I have a lot to donate to the upcoming Battle4aCure garage sale. I'm taking donations now that I have a little more space in the garage, so let me know if you have things you would consider donating! We're having this spring grage sale on April 30th to help us fund "Hope Boxes" throughout the year.
Battle4aCure continues to be a blessing in my life. At this very moment Amanda is working on completing our 501(c)(3) paperwork. What a dream come true this must be, especially for her. Literally a dream come true. Pray for us, our board, and the future of Battle4aCure. It's very scary to put yourself out there, there will be challenges and critics but I'm thankful God put me on this path and I pray we make a difference for these children and their families.
Work has been going really well. The other day I found myself remembering what my boss once told a former co-worker: "Can I get you a bigger plate?" when she complained that she had too much on her plate. We are participating in a convention for the first time this week and I've worked closely with Joel, our IT Manager, to get us prepared for it. I have my fingers crossed that our efforts pay off and this tradshow results in new clients for our company. One of the things I did during this process was design a new brochure for our firm. I've created two new design schemes for our proposals since last year and the brochure was the next step in bringing our company into the 21st century. I'm enjoying the creative process!
The children are amazing. Cody will be 14 months next week and there's no doubt that he's a toddler. All the things I heard about having a boy are true. They NEVER slow down, play 110% but are so sweet and loving! Cody is a cuddler, mostly when he's sleepy, and has quite an aresenol of facial expressions. The boy can eat! It's like he's always ravenous at meal times and he will eat ANYTHING. He is such a good baby, he tells you when he's all done. He loves to read! His favorite books are "Jesus Loves Me" and a book of shapes during which he tries to "ruff" when the doggy comes up.
He also says:
Mom-o
DaDa
Siss (Sissy)
Mema (Emma)
Mo (more)
Bobble (Bottle, even though it's a sippy cup)
Ball!
Nigh-Night
No-No, poor guy, he's heard this a lot!
He wears 18 months in clothes, size 4 in diapers and was about 25lbs at 12 months.
Emma enjoyed her first Spring Break from school. She spent two days with her Nana and 3 days with Grammy and PawPaw. Two of those days were supposed to be w/Daddy, but of course, David was asked to work O/T (7 days straight this week). She did art work, baked, played Wii at Nana's, went to the rodeo and just enjoyed some down time. She's growing up right before my eyes; it's undeniable because of her height! It's going by too fast!
David and I are doing well. Unfortunately it will soon be time for him to switch back to the night shift. Boo! After our exhausting move, he worked 7 days straight. I am looking forward to our upcoming dates! We're going to go see one of our favorite comedians, John Caparulo and we're also going to the Zac Brown Band concert at the Dell Diamond. April 19th will be our 3rd wedding anniversary and May 28th is the 5th anniversary of our first date. Wanna know how I know that? During the move David showed me a box he kept of ticket stubs from our first date, the first football game he went to with my Dad and I and baseball ticket stubs from the UT play off games we took my Dad to, to introduce them. Sweet, huh?
Well it's bedtime, so I'm signing off for now!
