Forever and Ever, Amen!

I figured I had better do a more upbeat blog so everybody doesn't think I'm headed for the nut-house or divorce. lol.Our second wedding anniversary is just a few days away. I can't believe it. In some ways it seems like just yesterday but mostly it seems like that was forever ago. In May we will have been together four years, but even still, it seems like longer. Is that how it is supposed to feel when you know you're with your soulmate? Ok, Ok I won't make this one all mushy-gushy.

One of David's best friends and his wife celebrate anniversaries by trying to give each other the 'traditional' anniversary gifts. They recently celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary- which is customary to give each other something having to do with wood. He asked David for ideas and I'm so proud of David's suggestion! David has bought me Willow Tree figurines and this Christmas bought me Promise.

It's very special to me because the night we met David and I were dancing. And the night he told me he loved me for the first time we were dancing (in the middle of the dancefloor at a Roger Creager concert to be exact). Anyway, so our friend loved the idea and I think ended up buying her a Willow Tree figurine- maybe even Promise. But this got me thinking. What were the other traditional mediums? A Google-ing I went.

• First Anniversary: Paper {Hmm, we stayed at the Hyatt and that cost some paper!}

• Second Anniversary: Cotton {David said "jewelry comes wrapped in cotton" Good thinking!}

• Third Anniversary: Leather {chaps :) }

• Fourth Anniversary: Fruit/Flowers {flowers please! Arrangement to recreate my bouquet?}

• Fifth Anniversary: Wood {hard wood floors in the house?!}

• Sixth Anniversary: Candy/Iron {candy, candy, candy. Inside joke between David & I}

• Seventh Anniversary: Wool/Copper {you got me here}

• Eighth Anniversary: Bronze/Pottery {and again, clueless}

• Ninth Anniversary: Pottery/Willow {new dishes? Willow Tree?}

• Tenth Anniversary: Tin/Aluminum {really cool trashcan}

• Eleventh Anniversary: Steel {kitchen re-model, new sink/appliances?}

• Twelfth Anniversary: Silk/Linen {sheets?}

• Thirteenth Anniv.: Lace {bow chicka wow-wow}

• Fourteenth Anniv.: Ivory {ivory-colored sheets? lol, David really does like nice sheets}

• Fifteenth Anniv.: Crystal {I already have a crystal vase I love, fill it w/flowers?}

• Twentieth Anniv.: China {I have 8 place settings already. Maybe we'll eat on it.}

• Twenty-Fifth Anniv.: Silver {All I can think about is taking a VACATION}

• Thirtieth Anniversary: Pearl {Tropical island w/fresh water pearls?}

• Thirty-Fifth Anniv.: Coral {Ooh, another vacation! Maybe our Australia trip?}

• Fortieth Anniversary: Ruby {Not a ruby fan, another vacation?}

• Forty-Fifth Anniv.: Sapphire {Ok, it's my birthstone so jewelry will be accepted.}

• Fiftieth Anniv.: Gold {I will be 74...wow.}

• Fifty-Fifth Anniv.: Emerald

• Sixtieth Anniv.: Diamond

This was kind of fun to look up and think about. There's no one else on this planet that I'd rather take that many vacations with! J/K. Stay tuned for mushy blog on the 19th.
